When the ESOP was first mooted back in the mists of time the company was valued at 150 million (Punts) with a clause inserted that “An Post shall be valued annually at fair market price to be settled by all the parties to the agreement”.

Does this mean that the shares which were then valued at around 3,000 Punts To each worker  are now worth a lot more as an Post is curently a very succesful company. So how much is An Post worth now? Workers have contributed to this success through various agreements the latest of which is C+D.

This could be one of the worst scandals on ordinary working people in this country. The An Post ESOP episode is heading for ten years in duration now, lots of An Post workers who have met their responsibilities in implementing various agreements have retired from the job or died without seeing a penny from the ESOP for their efforts.

It’s time to pay us our entitlements, no more stalling by Fianna Fail or Coalition Ministers. The  Unions need to take action on this immediately, the time for talking is well past.

To see the saga as it unfolds over a number of years go to the links below
for correspondence between the various players.

We have encloses a sample below from 2003 which is a strong letter from the then General Secretary of the CWU Con Scanlon
