The recession is over ...................its official, that’s if you believe the economists or the three card trick men as I call them.
The reason the recession is over is that we have exported more over the last number of months. Most of the increase in exports is down to the multinational companies. The downside in encomist speak is that the multi nationals have also exported the vast majority of their profits.
In the same period the number of people who are unemployed has increased by more than 5,000. This gives us the highest number of unemployed we have ever had.
Could some of the geniuses who seem to be making their way back out of the woodwork explain this to a simple person like me? Is it not like the Potato Famine of 150 years ago? The potato crop failed and millions died of starvation, at the same time the English landlords were exported huge amounts of produce to Britain and its colonies.
So to my way of thinking what the intelligensia who seem to have little else to do but come up with harebrained figures to justify their existence are now telling us is that the recession is over but we still have the famine.
As an old teacher of mine used to say you can do anything with figures.
