Honorary membership for CWU members?

All CWU members with over 40 years service should be given honorary membership

The current sub is 5.77 plus branch levy of 1.49 giving us a total of 7.26 times 52 amounts to 377.52 a year.

After 40 yrs service, your pension is made up on that day and you can no longer add to it. Surely this is a milestone in itself and should be acknowledged by making a member exempt from paying any more union dues over the next five years; as he would now automatically become a honorary member.

If you decide to leave after 40 years, and take your pension the union would not receive any further contributions so in effect they will not have factored you into future income streams i.e. they no longer count on you for future subs.

Another point of note; when I go onto the CWU website, there is no Annual report available, highlighting the income and expenditure for the union and the much speculated salary of the general secretary Steve Fitzpatrick. Why not? Every mickey mouse organisation has an annual report containing its financial figures for the year so it is total transparent as to what our subs are spend on.

Keep up the great work with the site, it greatly appreciated and a valuable resource for all members.
