Heres an interesting piece from the Irish edition of the Sundays  Times November 16th 2008 about a postmans mode of transport in the leafy suburbs of Ballsbridge.

“Petrol-head postie told to ditch Beamer and get back on his bike.
It’ swift post the D4 way. Residents of Dublin’ wealthiest enclaves report that their local postman has been delivering their mail from a BMW. The bicycle dodger has been spotted on both Ailesbury and Shrewsbury roads.

Naturally locals have been wondering why the postie has upgraded from a bike to a Beamer. Maybe it’s to outrun the pedigree hounds in Ballsbridge, one suggested. Another noted that a high Nelly could drag down the tone of the neighbourhood.

Atticus investigated and it seems the postal worker was simply seeking to speed up his delivery run by using his own wheels. A spokesperson for An Post said that the over-eager postie has been told to get back on his bike. Initiative in the public service? Whatever next?” end of quote

The postman might soon be one of the few people in Dublin 4 able to afford a BMW by the time the Banks are finished with a lot of the residents out there!! Webmaster
