Serious loss of membership for Irish Communications Workers Union

Membership: The CWU has had a serious decline in membership in 2007. Membership has declined from 18,789 at the end of 2006 to 16,696 at the end of 2007. This is a decline of 2,093 or 11.13 %. Its not clear where the decline is from and it may be a combination of natural retirements and early retirement schemes in Eircom and An Post.
Members contributions: However this has not seen a decline in members contributions, which increased to 5,185,800 Euros in 2007 from 4,700,279 Euros in 2006.
Salaries and wages also increased from 1,170,320 Euros in 2006 to 1,348,231 Euros in 2007.
Other benefit payments also increased from 947,851 Euros in 2006 to 993,966 Euros in 2007.
National Executive meetings Cost 78,578 Euros in 2007which is an increase from 77,701 Euros in 2006
CWU staff Pension Scheme: There was a decrease in the staff pension scheme from 155,457 euros in 2006 to 142,535 euros in 2007
Average number of employees: 16 with 5 officers on loan from Eircom and An Post
The end of year balance increased from 18,823,168 Euros in 2006 to 20,032,633 Euros at the end of 2007
