This week is the 30th Anniversary of the end of the Irish Postal Strike of 1979
On the 27th of June in 1979 postal workers returned from a savage, twenty weeks long strike where attempts were made to break them and put the workers and their families under extreme hardship and pressure.
We have sourced a number of articles and photos from the days of the strike, some of which are very dramatic indeed and give a good sense of what it was like for the workers. If anyone wishes to write to us with any more details of the strike or have pictures or article to send us we will be delighted to publish them.
To see the articles which are more or less in sequence click on the 1979 postal strike link on the right side this page.
